How Good Is Your Job?
Do you have a good job? How do you know? Comparing your job to other people’s jobs isn’t the best measuring stick. The idea is to evaluate how well aligned your job is with your interests , values, and skills. in the book, “Designing Your Work Life,” the authors offer another intriguing way to evaluate your job. They recommend measuring 3 components: Money, Impact, and Expression. So to answer the question of whether or not you have a good job, ask yourself, “Does my job pay me enough money to be comfortable?” “Does my job allow me to make an impact in the world in a way that is meaningful to me?” “Does my job allow me to express myself and my talents?” Reflect on those questions and you’ll have a much better sense of whether or not you need to make a change.
