The Best Way to Criticize Someone

Thinking about criticizing someone today?  Don’t forget this sage wisdom by Jack Handy: “If you want to criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes, that way you will be a mile from them when you criticize them and you’ll have their shoes.”  Now that’s funny!  But the first part of that advice is spot-on.  It’s very difficult to know what it is like to be someone else.  So even though you may be tempted to criticize someone, perhaps first stop and ask them what their journey has been and what it is like to be them.  You might gain a whole new perspective. Your assignment: Find someone this weekend who you want to get to know better and ask them, “Tell me more about what it’s like to be you.”
