What Is Right With The World
In his 2010 documentary “I Am”, Tom Shadyac takes a deep dive into what’s wrong with the world and what we can do about it. At the film’s conclusion, he says he hopes we can ask “What’s right with the world" and all of us be able to answer: “I am.” Can you answer this way? In the film it is suggested that a key starting point is to change your approach to a situation from ‘What will I get out of this?’ to ‘What will I bring to this?’ It can be transformational. Try it. And perhaps it will help us all start to feel a bit more connected to one another. This separation from each other is illuminated in the film as one of two of the biggest problems in the world right now (that and separation from nature). Take a look at the film if you get the chance. Shadyac’s story is an interesting one for sure. Rich and successful Hollywood film director finds himself quite unhappy and dealing with a serious bike injury. It all leads him to reflect and research deeply on some of life and society’s most important questions.
